Take A Trip To Taba, Egypt

If you are traveling between Israel and Egypt, near the northernmost tip of the Gulf of Aqaba you will run into the small town of Taba Egypt. It is an important border post between these two former arch enemies, and thus a favorite spot for travelers between the countries to overnight. The area forms part of the Red Sea Riviera in Egypt.

If you came this way a number of years ago, all you would have seen was an upmarket hotel with a casino, and a bus stop so you could get out again. During the past couple of years development has started to creep into the area, and you will see signs of this everywhere in Taba and the surrounding area. At Taba Heights a few kilometers from town there are a few high-priced hotels, and diving lessons are advertized all over town. The weather and the water is of course perfect for diving. There are frequent ferries sailing from Taba Heights to Aqaba in Jordan, but you can only go that way if you are on an organized tour.

You can enjoy 14 days of travel to Taba visa-free. This is thanks to an agreement between Israel and Egypt. You are required to cross at the Taba-Eilat border, and can travel south all the way to Sharm el-Sheikh, enjoying St. Catherine, Nuweiba and Dahab along the way.

Accommodation options in the area are limited. You can of course stay in the Hilton, and as far as Hiltons go the prices are quite reasonable (they have a casino too), or you can sleep under the stars in the beach camp a few kilometers out of town. Full board is available if all you want to do is eat, sleep and drink.

When you are done with the bottom of the sea, you might head for the mountains. Nestled in the mountainous terrain of northern Egypt, 40km from Taba, sits the Castle Zaman. This incredibly massive man made structure is one of the areas most popular places. Apart from allowing people to see a real castle, the location also offers lodging and slow cooked food. The only downside is that it is not recommended for children.

If you are the least bit drawn in by golf, you should definitely check out the Three Corners El Wakela Resort. Three Corners offers a competitive par 72 course complete with challenging shots and numerous hazards. Amongst the excellence of the course, you might also notice the beautiful scenery, allowing you to forget for a moment you were golfing at all. This is just an overview of the many things you can do when you visit Taba Egypt. These are just a few things, and in these few things lies activities that you can do nowhere else. So, what’s stopping you?
